Gray corded robotic pool cleaner on a submerged pool step in blue water

Dolphin Cayman care for San Angelo pool owners

The Dolphin Cayman is a corded robotic cleaner with its own debris filter. A drop in pickup can come from ordinary filter loading or an obstruction, so check those before buying parts. The model number matters when comparing accessories, service options and replacement cleaners.

What the Cayman is built to clean

For U.S. product 99996135-SPL, Maytronics’ technical specifications list pools up to 40 feet long, floor-and-wall coverage, a two-hour default cycle, a weekly timer and a top-access fine-filter basket. The specification table does not list dedicated waterline cleaning, mobile-app control or an anti-tangle swivel.

Plan to maintain the waterline and difficult-to-reach areas separately. A timer is useful only if the filter remains clear and the pool stays suitable for operation; it is not a substitute for inspecting the cleaner between uses.

Safe setup and stop-use signs

Use the original power supply with a GFCI-protected outlet; do not add an extension cord. Keep the supply out of water and follow your unit’s manual for its required distance from the pool. Remove the cleaner before anyone swims. Switch off and unplug before handling filters, brushes or other moving parts.

A damaged cable, burning smell or unexpected GFCI trip means stop using the cleaner. Do not keep resetting the circuit or move to an unprotected outlet. Have the fault assessed before reuse. Maytronics’ corded-cleaner safety instructions explain these electrical precautions.

Checks before a repair decision

  • Poor collection: rinse the basket, check the filter for damage and confirm that it is seated correctly.
  • Missed sections: inspect the floating cable’s reach and route. Do not expect a swivel to correct tangles on this listed version.
  • Circling or slipping: inspect accessible drive parts for debris and check the filter and pool conditions. A noise or uneven path is not enough to identify a particular failed gear.
  • Unexpected stops: record when they occur and what the power-supply indicators show. Distinguish an ordinary end of cycle from repeat shutdowns.

For a climbing problem, use Maytronics’ filter, cable and water-condition checks. Stop if an obstruction cannot be cleared using the owner-manual procedure. Avoid opening sealed motor or electrical housings.

Filter care without guesswork

Rinse debris away promptly after use. Follow the manual for periodic panel removal and reassembly; do not apply an arbitrary degreaser or solvent. If you need a different filter grade, verify the part against the exact product number rather than assuming all Dolphin baskets interchange.

Information to request from a repair provider

Ask whether the provider supports your Cayman version, what diagnosis will cost, which parts are proposed and what the completed repair would total. Keep the purchase receipt and verify any warranty eligibility with the seller or Maytronics. Neither a service visit nor a replacement part should be described as warranty-covered before that is confirmed.
